captive orca profiles 76 kandu

KANDU was captured in Feb 1967 along with 5 others, they were sent to Seattle Marine Aquarium. 4 of the orcas were moved out but poor Kandu was left behind spending 2 years alone. In 1969 Kandu was finally bought by Seaworld and rejoined her pod mates. The park already had 3 orca's who were kept in a very small tank. During the summer opening of Seaworld Aurora, Kandu joined Kilroy and was moved back to San Diego for the winter. In 1971 a new tank was built for the orca's, but poor Kandu never got to see it. She died in the June of 1971 probably at Aurora where she would have been for the summer season of pneumonia and liver necrosis.
