1905 Coca Cola Ad. Lillian Norton Nordica / Joyful226
Lillian Norton Nordica from a 1905 Coca-Cola advertisement This 1905 Version of Photoshop in that they doctored the orignal photograph which I have a copy of it, taken in 1903 but this version of the ad didn't come out until 1905 It says in small print at the top right side At Soda Fountains and at the bottom Delicious on left side Refreshing on the right side.******* A 1905 Coca-Cola ad, this is Lillian Nordica. Born Lillian Norton, in Farmington, Maine and had her image prominently featured in early Coca-Cola advertising campaigns. She was the most glamorous American opera singer in history and the first to attain true international prominence. On November 28, 1904, she sang in a revival of La Gioconda with Enrico Caruso at the Metropolitan in New York. *** She nearly missed the ship leaving Sydney for her return, but wired the captain asking him to wait for her. It would prove to be a fatal mistake. The ship hit a coral reef, where it remained for three days, and Lillian suffered exposure from which she never fully recovered. She lingered for months, seeming to improve, only to fail again. She died on May 10, 1914, on the island of Java. Thus it is said that on the eve of World War I, in 1914, her tragic and untimely death came as the result of a shipwreck in the South Seas. ****Nordica Auditorium in Merrill Hall at the University of Maine at Farmington is named after her. "… The sum of it is, success comes from steady daily work. You must work well in the morning, and then work some more in the afternoon—and it is well to practise between times too ! " Exact quote with misspelled word included. From A Talk With Lillian Nordica originally published in 1907 An interesting interview with her. http://www.oldandsold.com/articles30/opera-stars-9.shtml * Some articles do not mention the shipwreck although most do … Thus when looking up her name you will find both the shipwreck, others, will merely say pneumonia, but had it not been for the shipwreck she likely would not have gotten over exposure resulting in weakening her lungs and pneumonia. For more information, type her name into Google or any search engine. Research and article by Connie/Joyful226*** Now you know the rest of the story. May you have a Bubbly Day and remember Drink Coke or something good. Blessings to you Connie
