asuka was also captured in Taiji. She was sent to Izu Mito Sea Paradise. The capture of those orca that horrible day is here. Over the years the Japanese hunters have wiped out the orca population around Japan. During this capture, they drove in 10 orca, 5 orca were taken and the remaining 5 all male were driven back out to sea. This pod and their ability to breed was destroyed, they had already killed over 1200 orca and now took the remaining females into captivity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceLQNl2ZMZQ When she arrived she was introduced to Tanouk and a breeding programme was discussed, this sadly was not to be as Tanouk died leaving her alone. She can be seen at the park here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umkyuFpVfC8 Asuka stayed at the park for 10 years alone apart from the company occasionally of dolphins. On September 19th 2007 she passed away. No word was released about her death and no cause of death was given. In memory of her trainers and guest put her picture and flowers at the side of her tank.
